Tighter Covid-19 measures imposed in Manchester metropolitan area after increase in incidents
Lockdown rules have been relaxed in Wigan, the only autonomous region that has lifted the additional restrictions imposed a month ago in Greater Manchester.
According to the Department of Health and Social Welfare, regulations have also been relaxed in parts of Derwen and Blackburn in Rossendale and Lancashire.
Wigan Council leader David Molyneux thanked the inhabitants for being “responsible, patient, and kind.”
After the regional increase in Covid-19 cases, stricter rules were reintroduced.

Wigan and Rossendale originally faced strict regulations with Greater Manchester and other parts of East Lancashire because they were concerned about the overall prevalence of the region and the spread of the virus among households.
However, both maintain low infection rates compared to other regions.
