Coronavirus cases associated with weddings in Maine reach prison, nursing home

Robert Long, a spokesman for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Maine, said Wednesday that there were 85 incidents related to the wedding reception on August 7th at the Big Moose Inn in Millinocket.

Millinocket Regional Hospital Said One of the female inpatients associated with this event died early Friday afternoon.

According to Long, 32 of the 85 infections were primary infections or people attending weddings. On the other hand, 33 cases were secondary cases and 20 cases were tertiary cases (persons who had close contact with attendees or secondary cases, respectively).

By stream press briefing On Tuesday, Dr. Nirav Shah, director of the main CDC, explained the outbreak as “a series of concentric rings…all from this August 7 event.”

One of those rings was an outbreak at the Maple Crest Rehabilitation & Living Center in Madison, Maine, with six cases out of a total of 85, he said.

Mr Shah said the outbreak of coronavirus reached his nursing home as his wedding guests were infected by his parents, who in turn infected their children working in them.

According to Shah, four residents and another staff member were infected within two and a half weeks.

With the exception of nursing homes, the outbreak of the wedding virus spread to county prisons about 230 miles away.

“This morning, our sick detectives identified a relationship between the wedding reception in Millinocket and the York County prison facility,” Shah said at a news conference on Tuesday.

He said there were a total of 18 evolving situations, of which 7 were inmates and 9 were staff. Two other staff working with the county government at the complex were infected.

Sher explained, “among the first confirmed cases in prison,” prison officials attended the wedding.

The Shah added that the outbreak was a prime example “indicating how aggressive and opportunistic the virus is.”

He added that the main CDC is investigating a series of virus cases at fire stations in Sanford, Saco, and Buxton. At the briefing on Tuesday, there were a total of four incidents at these three fire stations.
