West Nile virus found in Westchester mosquitoes
The White Plains, NY-Westchester County Health Department announced that the first mosquitoes of the season carrying the West Nile virus in West Cherry were detected in Elmsford, Hastings, Mount Vernon and Rye. The area surrounding the herd of positive mosquitoes was being inspected by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday, and a nearby sump holding water standing to prevent further breeding of nearby mosquitoes is treated.

- Keep the swimming pool, outdoor spa, and hot tub chlorinated until winter or drainage is appropriate for the season. If it is not chlorinated, drain the water accumulated in the cover.
