Santa Clara County reports four new cases of coronavirus deaths, 94
Santa Clara County, California — Santa Clara County Public Health Service report Four additional coronavirus-related deaths on Wednesday.
In the latest report, COVID-19 deaths across the county totaled 237.
The county also reported 94 additional coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the county-wide case count to 16,393.
As of Wednesday, 142 COVID-19 patients were admitted to Santa Clara County, of which 39 were in intensive care.
Elsewhere in the Bay Area, California secures a contract with a Massachusetts-based company that more than doubles the testing capacity of the COVID-19 coronavirus, shortening delivery times for results and lowering test costs. Governor Gavin Newsom said Wednesday.
An agreement with diagnostics company PerkinElmer adds the ability to handle 150,000 coronavirus tests per day to the state’s current test average of about 100,000 tests per day.
The contract also includes the requirement to process and distribute test results in 24-48 hours.
