Coronavirus outbreaks have been confirmed at the Gregs Distribution Center in Bramley, Leeds
Gregs confirmed a coronavirus outbreak at a bakery distribution center in Leeds.
A private number of people working at the center in Bramley tested positive.
Further testing revealed that the company found more staff infected with the virus and the center was thoroughly cleaned.
The British Public Health Service was unable to confirm an accurate case size, but told BBC News that it was “less than 20”.
Roger Whiteside, CEO of Gregs, said the company took immediate action.
“The company is working closely with Leeds City Council and Public Health England to minimize the impact on customers and the wider community in Leeds and its surrounding areas,” he said.
Lucy Jackson, Deputy Director of Public Health at Leeds City Council, said: “Further testing identified more staff as positive.
“This underscores why further testing and contact tracking that Gregs is actively working on is so important.
“The workplace has been thoroughly cleaned and further contact tracing is being done, sharing the necessary advice on self-isolation and awareness of symptoms.
“We are pleased that the steps necessary to minimize the spread of infection have been taken quickly.”
