The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has risen to 368 after an additional four cases were reported today.
Warning Level Rating Tool has been lowered to Level 2. This reflects both a slight decrease in the number of cases per 100,000 in Humboldt County and an improvement in the proportion of cases due to community-acquired infections.

What do these numbers mean?
- Newly confirmed cases of COVID-19-The number of positive cases confirmed in the test since the last report.
- Total confirmed cases-The number of positive cases confirmed in the test since the beginning of the pandemic. It also includes people who have recovered from their illness.
- Total recovery-Number of confirmed cases that are no longer quarantined. This means they meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) standards for liberation. There is no fever for at least 3 days without using fever-suppressing drugs, and more than 10 days have passed since the onset of symptoms etc.
- Total death-Number of people who died after being diagnosed with COVID-19.
- Total hospitalization—The total number of people who have been released from hospitalization since the pandemic began after confirmed cases of COVID were released.
- Number of tests run since the last report-The number of tests run since the most recent reporting period.
- Public Health Institute— The number of tests performed at the Humboldt County Public Health Institute since the latest reporting period.
- OptumServe-The number of tests performed at Eureka’s OptumServe test site since the latest reporting period.
- Willow Creek Public Test Site-The number of tests performed on Willy Creek’s Verily test site since the last reporting period.
- Total number of tests executed so far-The total number of tests executed so far.
- Public Health Institute-Total number of tests performed so far at the Humboldt County Institute of Public Health.
- OptumServe-Total number of tests ever performed at Eureka’s OptumServe test site.
- Willow Creek Public Test Site-Total number of tests performed so far on Willy Creek’s Verily test site since the last reporting period.
- Public Health Laboratory Testing Capabilities-Approximate number of test kits that are complete and ready to administer. This number will be reduced by testing and will increase as additional supply is acquired.

- South Humboldt — Highway 36 (North) extends south to the southern border of Mendocino and Humboldt counties.

- Average age-Average age of all individuals who test positive for COVID-19. Average age is calculated by summing all ages of the individual and dividing by the number of cases.
- Age group-Number of Total number of individuals testing positive for COVID-19, grouped by age.
- Testing and confirmed case rates compared to California-The number of tests performed per 100,000 people. The number of tests performed is provided by the California Reportable Disease Information Exchange (CalREDIE). This includes the Humboldt County Institute of Public Health, OptumServe Public Test Site, LabCorp, Quest Diagnostics, CDPH, CDC, and Point-of-Care Devices. Population estimates are based on US Census Bureau data. The rate per 100,000 is calculated by dividing the total number of tests performed by the population of the jurisdiction and multiplying the result by 100,000.
- Number of confirmed cases compared to California-Defined number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000. Test results are provided by CalREDIE. This includes tests performed by the Humboldt County Public Health Institute, the OptumServe Public Test Site, LabCorp, Quest Diagnostics, CDPH, CDC and Point of Care Devices. Population estimates are based on US Census Bureau data. The rate per 100,000 is calculated by dividing the total number of confirmed cases by the population of the jurisdiction and multiplying the result by 100,000.
Notes on patient and demographic data
To protect the identities of those with COVID-19, their particular place of residence is not disclosed. Humboldt County Public Health Branch has a legal responsibility to protect personal health information, including address, specific age, recent trips, contact ID and location, health care provider, illness history, and other identifiable information. There are individuals who have been or have been exposed to the virus, unless it serves the public health interests.
Interestingly for residents, providing location and other demographic information to the general public cannot delay the spread of the disease. Humboldt County has experienced untraceable person-to-person transmission, also known as “community spread,” and nowhere is considered safe. Avoid travel, wash your hands, keep yourself and your environment clean, and follow the shelter in place instructions to reduce the likelihood of acquiring or spreading COVID-19. Do not leave home for any reason unless absolutely necessary. so.
