NASA has made enthusiastic fans enthusiastic by sharing a gentle photo of a “small section of the Cygnus supernova explosion.”

Taken in the Hubble Space telescope managed by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, this dreamlike photo features “a delicate and light veil covered over the sky.” In fact, it was only a small part of the Cygnus supernova explosion wave, about 2,400 light years away.

The Hubble Space Telescope grabbed the Instagram handle and shared the same image, “the shock wave is still expanding at a speed of 220 miles (350 kilometers) per second,” he said. “The interaction between the emitted matter and the low-density interstellar matter swept by the shock wave forms the veil-like structure seen in this image,” he added.
