Large study finds no association between blood pressure medication and cancer

In an average of 4 years, there were about 15,000 new cancer diagnoses. The researchers found no evidence that use of the antihypertensive drug class increased the risk of cancer. This finding is based on age, sex, Body size, Smoking status and previous use of antihypertensive drugs.

Each drug class was compared to all other control groups including placebo, standard treatment and other drug classes.

There were no significant effects of individual drug classes on overall cancer risk.
