Kildare blockade lifted as 53 Covid-19 cases, no new deaths reported in state

An additional 53 Covid-19 cases were reported in the state, with no further deaths confirmed by NPHET on Monday night.

This brings the total number of cases to 28,811 and the total deaths to 1,777.

In Northern Ireland, 58 new cases were reported by authorities with no further deaths.

Earlier, Taoiseach Micheál Martin confirmed that Co Kildare has made a decision to lift the local blockade.

On August 7, localized blockade measures were announced for the states of Kildare, Laowa, and Offaly. Laois and Offaly escaped from the blockade on August 21, but strict limits remained on Kildare.

Explaining the rationale for the government’s decision to lift the regional restrictions applied at Co Kildare, Dr. Glynn said it would no longer be proportionate to implement measures in light of current trends.

The number of new cases in the county dropped from 238 in the first week of August to 75 last week, during which time the share of all cases fell nationwide from almost half to 10%.

Although the incidence of illness in Kildare is still above the national average, he said the trajectory is on the right track.

According to Dr. Grin, the willingness of the people in the county to “buy” measures was protecting them and their families.

He said it would have been ineffective to impose restrictions on the edible plant of Kildare, rather than the entire county. Kildare was hit by cluster “double peaks,” first at the meat factory and then at home.

Public health authorities advise that families of children with suspected Covid-19 symptoms need to be self-isolated while the child is awaiting testing.

However, it can take up to 72 hours for test results to arrive, they said.

Dr. Sumi Dunne of GP urged parents not to take their children to school and to administer paracetamol when their parents were in a “nose/nasal runny” condition.

“Keep them at home, limit your movements, and get in touch with your GP,” she told the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) briefing on Monday.

“Until the child’s symptoms disappear, both the child and the caregiver must stay in a suitable condition to return to school.”

The requirement of limiting one’s movements applies to all intimate contact of the child-in fact, a member of another family-she revealed.

The number of cases on Sundays and Mondays has been low compared to the last few weeks, but Dr. Grin said it was too early to read anything about trends.

“This can go in either direction at this point, but we are encouraged by the recent apparent stabilization of numbers.”

Too many people wore face covers “exposed under the chin and nose,” he said. This does not provide protection and may increase risk.

The face visor was acceptable, but he advised that it was “better” than the face cover.

Of the new cases across the state, 28 were male and 25 were female. Three in four were under the age of 45.

Approximately 27 of 53 cases were in outbreak-related or in close contact with confirmed cases, and 14 cases were associated with community-acquired infections.

There were 25 in Dublin, 11 in Limerick, and 17 in Kildare, Longford, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Laois, Meath, Roscommon, Tipperary and Westmeath.

There are currently 35 Covid-19 patients in the hospital, 6 of whom are in the intensive care unit.

Nphet also reported 22 new cases in the Roman community. 6 are provided directly and 2 are homeless.

Referring to Kildare, Martin tweeted Monday at 4:18 pm.

“It worked. The numbers in Kildare are the same as in other countries. We all have to stay vigilant.”

County business and political leaders were informed about the decision early on Monday.

A government statement confirmed that the Kildare blockade was “immediately lifted” and that public health measures within the county were consistent with those introduced nationally on August 18.

NPHET met earlier and examined the epidemiological situation in Kildare and found that improvements continued and are now about the same as the situation nationwide.

“Since the epidemiological situation is largely similar both nationally and in Kildare, there is no reason to take a differentiated approach between Kildare and the rest of the country,” the statement added.

Alan Shine, chief executive officer of the Kildare Chamber of Commerce, said the government had said it would cancel the action by the evening.

Meanwhile, senior health agencies have confirmed that the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) has decided to recommend lifting the measures, which was discussed at today’s corporate cabinet meeting.

“The news of the blockade will be very welcome to Kildare’s business community. Cash flow is still a concern for people in tourism, hospitality and the retail sector,” Shine said.

“We need to start talking now about how to live with Covid and work with Covid until a vaccine is found. Limitations.”

James Thorres, Fianafile TD at government back venture Kildare North, welcomed the development as “safety and reward for the people of Kildare.”

“Two weeks ago, we had the highest incidence in Europe. Now it’s suppressed, we stopped the virus. It experienced three lockdowns in rapid succession. “It’s a great relief for the people of Kildare, who have made great sacrifices, both personally and commercially.”

Earlier, Kildare County counselor claimed to have received confirmation that the county blockade aimed at fighting the surge in Covid-19 cases would be lifted Monday night.

Robert Power, who represents Fianafile in the nurse, posted to Facebook on Monday afternoon. “We have confirmed that the government has decided to lift additional restrictions on Kildare.

“We are not yet outside the forest and our numbers are still high, but what could have been a huge wave of deaths due to the additional sacrifices made by the people of Kildare. Has been reduced.

“This is a great week of news, with thousands of excited children finally returning to something normal. Let’s continue our efforts for them!”
