Groom reveals the last words of his father after 100 coronavirus cases at a wedding
At the heart of the devastating coronavirus outbreak, the newlyweds break silence and reveal the last words of the groom’s father.
The groom, Manoli, said he said, “Be strong,” to his father, who tested positive for COVID-19 two days after the wedding.
The Betty and Manori couple held a notorious wedding at a restaurant and bar in Oyster Cove on March 21, two days before the New Zealand government announced its national Level 4 lockdown. The event caused a large-scale outbreak of guest coronavirus infections, affecting approximately 100 people.

Manoli’s father, Chrisanthos Tzanoudakis, was originally from Greece and lived in Wellington for 50 years. He owned a fish and chip shop and worked at a dock. Chrisantos was planning to return to Greece after the wedding. However, within a few days of the wedding, the guests tested positive for COVID-19. After that, Manori and Betty also showed a positive reaction.

“One of our guests asked me to ask what we were doing,” Betty said. “He was ill and was tested for COVID-19 and said he was positive.”
The number of people who tested positive for the wedding increased to 98 — and two were killed, including Manoli’s father, Chrisanthos.
Chrisantos was hospitalized Thursday after the wedding.
“He rushed to the hospital. He was going up and down, and he started to get worse,” Manoli said. He said his father was given an oxygen mask, but he was so distressed that he kept trying to get rid of it.
His father said to him in Greek, “Strong, we get over it.” It was the last word he said before he died on April 10th-just 20 days after the wedding.
According to 9 News, one of the guests, a flight attendant, has been identified as the source.
It is believed that they brought the virus from abroad into the country.
In his report, Manoli said his father’s death was due to a virus, not to anyone.
