Over 30 COVID-19 cases linked to Quebec City lawyers

Public health authorities say more than 30 cases of COVID-19 in Quebec City are connected to local lawyers.
Quebec Health Minister Christian Duvet said on Tuesday that another 12 cases were associated with Bar Kirouac, bringing the total to 31.
Duvet also suggested that staff and regulars could face fines.
Karaoke night was held at the bar on August 23rd.
On Saturday, public health officials advised those who visited the tavern the previous week to be examined.
On Monday, a post on Bar Kirouac’s Facebook page said it was decided to close down the facility “following the unfortunate event this weekend”.
The owner said the bar will remain closed until 9th September.
Dr. Jack Girard, interim director of public health at CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale, called on the public to follow health and safety protocols, especially at the bar.
“Our ongoing research has also shown us that the community has a viral circulation,” Gillard said in a statement.
“We ask citizens to take responsibility and respect the hygiene measures in place, especially when meeting in the presence of alcohol.”
