Pennsylvania Coronavirus: 587 New, 15 New Deaths

(WKBN) – The Pennsylvania Department of Health has reported an increase of 587 COVID-19-positive cases and 15 new deaths since Wednesday. When 931 new cases and 14 new deaths were reported..
This will result in a total of 141,877 cases and 7,820 deaths from COVID-19 across the state.
The number of tests performed during the last 7 days from September 3 to September 9 was 144,379 and the number of positive cases was 5,679. By 9 pm on September 9, 20,979 test results had been reported to the department. These results represent the total number of tests performed.

There are 84 cases with positive viral antigen tests and considered probable cases, and 646 patients with positive serology and either COVID-19 symptoms or high risk exposure.
There are 1,639,349 patients who have been negative so far. Here is a breakdown of the ages of patients who have had a positive reaction so far:
- About 1% are 0-4 years old.
- Nearly 2% are 5-12 years old.
- About 4% are 13-18 years old.
- About 11% are between 19 and 24 years old.
- Nearly 37% are 25 to 49 years old.
- About 22% are between 50 and 64 years old. And
- Nearly 23% are over 65.
Most inpatients are over 65 years old, and most deaths occur in patients over 65 years old. More data is available here.
The ministry sees a significant increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 in the younger age group, especially between the ages of 19 and 24. In nursing homes and personal care homes, there are 21,644 resident cases of COVID-19 and 4,702 cases of employees, totaling 26,346 cases in 946 different institutions in 61 counties. Approximately 9,968 of all cases are healthcare workers.
