US Government Study Highlights COVID-19 Risk from Bars and Restaurants-Health

A new study by US health officials released Thursday found that visiting bars and restaurants is more than going shopping, working in the office, or using public transport when it comes to capturing COVID-19. Provided more data showing that it is much more dangerous.

“Adults with a positive SARS-CoV-2 test were about twice as likely to have eaten at a restaurant as adults with a negative SARS-CoV-2 test.”

The risk was even higher at the bar when the analysis was limited to participants who did not report exposure to persons with known cases of COVID-19.

The analysis needs further verification, especially since it did not distinguish between indoor and outdoor drinking and dietary settings.

However, it is further evidence of the pollution risk associated with microdroplets that can travel far beyond the 2 meters recommended by social distance guidelines and be carried along ventilation streams.
