New research produces stunning images of coronavirus-infected cells in the human respiratory tract

The UNC School of Medicine Laboratory in North Carolina, USA, has released impressive graphic images showing how severe the new coronavirus infection in the respiratory tract, which supplies air to the inside and outside of the lungs.
Camilleele, an assistant professor of pediatrics and a member of the UNC Marsico Lung Institute and the UNC Children’s Institute, worked with several other laboratories to create these images.
In a laboratory environment, researchers inoculated the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19, into epithelial cells in the human bronchi, the pipes that move air in and out of the lungs when breathing.
