The state on Saturday reported 16 new confirmed coronavirus deaths, bringing Massachusetts deaths to 8,987 people from the virus. The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 increased by 435 to reach 122,637.
The State Department of Health also announced that molecular tests of the virus have been given to 18,313 new people. To date, approximately 1.95 million people in Massachusetts have undergone molecular testing for the virus.
According to the latest report, the 7-day average positive rate for molecular testing was stable at 0.8% for the second consecutive day on Friday. That number was 0.9% from September 1st to Wednesday.
Antibody tests were performed on 116,242 people on Saturday, an increase of 349 from the previous day.
According to the state, the index to track the three-day average of confirmed deaths was 11 as of Wednesday.
Hospitalization data showed that the two medical centers used surge capacity to treat coronavirus patients as of Friday, the state reported. That number has been stable since Monday.
The three-day average number of hospitalized coronavirus patients dropped slightly from 341 on Friday to 339 on Friday.
