Arizona State University Reportes 83 New Coronavirus Cases

PHOENIX — Arizona State University reported 83 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday night, bringing the total number of positive school tests between students and staff since August 1st to 1,385.
Between IncidentAccording to the university, 96 people are isolated on the Tempe campus and are home to 9,575 students. There are an additional 505 positive cases isolated off campus in the Phoenix metro area.
So far, 879 students and 142 faculty members have been allowed to resume activity after a positive COVID-19 test.
Since August 1, the university has collected approximately 50,533 test results from students and faculty members.
An Arizona spokeswoman said KTAR News 92.3 FM On Thursday, six students are currently facing suspensions and additional consequences due to COVID-related violations.
Four of them are extracurricular activities and the remaining two are on-campus activities.
ASU President Michael Crow announced on Wednesday that the university will change the reporting model for coronavirus.
In a twice-weekly update, ASU releases the cumulative number of positive cases reported between students and staff and “cleared positives”, rather than reporting only active cases.
Crow told reporters at a press conference that the total number of positives was completely useless when it came to understanding the spread of the virus.
Rather, the number of positives cleared better portrays the spread of the virus on campus and helps the original infected student to return to normal.
On Thursday, the Arizona Department of Health reported 406 new coronavirus cases and 22 additional deaths across the state, leading to a total of 207,002 COVID-19 infections and 5,273 deaths in Arizona.
