Virus warnings issued to two schools in Winnipeg
As the second week of school begins, public health officials have warned that there are two more potential COVID-19 exposures at Winnipeg’s school.
On Sunday afternoon, the state announced at the Daniel McIntyre University Institute (720 Alverstone St.) that it could be exposed on Wednesday morning, September 9th and Thursday afternoon, September 10th.
The second possible exposure occurred at John Pritchard School on the 1490 Henderson Highway. September 8, September 9, and September 10 are both morning and afternoon each day.
In both cases, public health officials stated that the infection was not acquired at school because the individual was asymptomatic and attended school.
Schools and cohorts have been notified, the state said in its release on Sunday. This release has been added with additional cleaning of areas of high contact.
The risk is considered low because the physical distance was maintained while the individual was at school and wearing the mask. There is no close contact related to the case, and public health officials have not advised anyone to self-isolate. Others on the scene do not need to be self-isolated, but the state said they should self-monitor the symptoms of COVID-19.
The new case follows two previous reports of potential exposure in schools in Manitoba.
Health officials said on Saturday that additional cleaning was taking place at Brandon’s Ecole New Era School after an asymptomatic person stayed at school for a short time on Friday. On Wednesday, authorities confirmed that Churchill High School’s seventh graders were asymptomatically attending school on September 8.
Like the two cases announced on Sunday, previous cases were considered to have a low risk of infection.
Early on Sunday, public health officials announced 18 new cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba, bringing the total number of cases confirmed by state tests to 1,428.
Eleven cases are in the healthy area of Winnipeg. Three cases are in Southern Health and two cases are in the Interlake-Eastern region. One case was reported in the Northern Health area and one case was reported in Prairie Mountain Health.
There were 239 active cases of COVID-19, with 1,173 recovered.
Fifteen are hospitalized and three are receiving intensive care.
As a result of this virus, 16 manitovans have died.
A total of 1,525 tests were completed on Saturday, bringing the total number of lab tests completed since early February to 154,756.

Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily.
