Michigan sprays 10 high-risk counties on EEE for mosquito-borne diseases
According to a plan announced by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, 10 counties in Michigan will receive mosquito control treatment on Wednesday to prevent the spread of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE).

Health officials are encouraging local leaders to reschedule, postpone, or cancel nighttime outdoor events, which are the contact points for mosquitoes to operate especially at temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius.
Aerial treatment begins around 8 pm at dawn. A special aircraft distributes a tablespoon of the large aerosol Merus 3.0 per acre to kill adult mosquitoes in contact. The process depends on weather conditions such as wind speed, temperature and precipitation.
As recommended by the Michigan Health Authority, some precautions an individual can take include:
- Avoid outdoors from dusk to dawn

- Install a fan or cover the outdoor dining area with a net
