COVID-19 isn’t over: what to do if you get sick-News-Journal Standard

It’s been 7 months since I started working on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). You may feel like an expert on this topic. But it’s always good to go back a little “refreshing”. Let’s start with some basic facts first.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

Since some of the symptoms of COVID-19 are the same as those of colds and flu, it is important to note the following symptoms that may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the COVID-19 virus:

– Fever or chills

–Cough

– Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

– Malaise

– Muscle or body pain

-headache

– New loss of taste and smell

– sore throat

– Stuffy nose or runny nose

– Nausea or vomiting

-diarrhea

What should I do if I have these symptoms?

If you have any of the above symptoms, it is advisable to stay at home and stay away from others. Isolate yourself as much as possible (preferably at home from work or school) and take a break to see if you feel better. Just having a cold means staying at home doesn’t disperse those bacteria!

What if my symptoms persist or worsen?

Seek medical attention immediately if any of the following symptoms occur:

– Dyspnea or shortness of breath

– Persistent pain and chest pressure

– New mess

– Can’t wake up or stay awake

– Bluish lips or face

If the mild symptoms do not improve after a few days, it is time to call the healthcare provider’s office. If you do not have a healthcare provider, call the FHN Doctor Referral Hotline (815-599-7060) to get an appointment. Your healthcare provider can arrange to meet you in person or book a COVID-19 test at FHN.

There is currently no cure for COVID-19, but people with mild illness are safe at home. While at home, you should live with others and stay in as specific a room as possible if you are away from the people you might visit.

If you need treatment (due to COVID or other problems), it is safe to visit your healthcare provider’s office or the emergency department of the FHN Memorial Hospital. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, tell the person making the reservation or greeting at the entrance of the hospital.

Do I need to isolate myself?

If you have COVID-19 and you suspect you had some symptoms, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests that you can get out of quarantine after:

– 10 days after the first onset of symptoms

– No fever for 24 hours without the use of antipyretics

Other symptoms of COVID-19 have improved (taste and olfactory loss can last for weeks or months and does not require delaying the end of quarantine)

If your COVID-19 test is positive but you have no symptoms, you should wait 10 days after a positive result to avoid isolation. If you experience any symptoms, follow the guidance above.

As you can imagine, FHN is very cautious about the COVID-19 epidemic and urges the community to do the same. Whether you are infected with the virus or feel unwell, everyone should take the following precautions to stop the spread of COVID-19.

– Avoid congestion

– wash hands

– Wear a mask

– Maintain social distance guidelines — 6 feet away from others if possible

– Wipe frequently touched areas (doorknobs, table tops, counters)

Take care!

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price.
