Elderly people die from the first West Nile virus in Orange County in 2020 – Orange County registration
County health officials reported on Wednesday 16 September that an old man in Garden Grove died in 2020, the first West Nile virus-related death in Orange County.
A news release released by the Orange County Department of Health about the man’s death did not reveal his name or age, or the date he died.

West Nile virus is a mosquito-borne infection that causes symptoms such as fever, headache, body aches, and fatigue. More serious signs of West Nile virus-related neuroinvasive disease include neck stiffness, confusion, weakness, and blindness.
According to medical institutions, a man in Garden Grove was one of five cases with West Nile virus symptoms reported so far, four of whom were hospitalized. The two had a neuroinvasive disease. The three had a fever. Most people infected with the West Nile virus have no symptoms.
Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District Increased mosquito activity This year – especially in the communities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Fullerton and La Habra – an increase in dead birds infected with the West Nile virus. Insecticides have been sprayed in several areas to reduce the number of mosquitoes.
