Two employees at the nursing home are COVID-19, N.S. Reach three digits

 


Nova Scotia COVID-19 In one day, the number of cases has reached three digits.

On Saturday, the state government announced that it had detected another 20 cases, bringing the total number of cases in Nova Scotia to 110.

Two of the new cases are nursing home employees.

One is R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home in Antigonish, N.S. and the other is an employee of Lewis Hall, a community of private retirees in Dartmouth.

All residents and staff at the facility have been notified, and state health authorities continue to investigate and cooperate with facility managers.

Although the population and other staff have not shown symptoms, some are self-isolated as a precautionary measure while close contact is being tested.

Nova Scotia states that there are currently no cases of COVID-19 among residents of nursing homes.

“The weekend has come. We need to be more vigilant than ever. We can’t afford to be vigilant,” said Steven McNeill in a press release.

Twenty new cases have been instructed to self-quarantine at home for 14 days.

Authorities are currently working to identify those who may have been in close contact with newly identified cases.

As of Saturday, the state said they had not yet confirmed the spread of the community as they continued to investigate some cases.

Cases in the state range from under the age of 10 to the mid-70s. Currently, three have been hospitalized and four have recovered, and the case is considered resolved.

In a press release, the state chief medical officer, Dr. Robert Strand, said that cases would increase as travelers continue to return to Nova Scotia.

As of Saturday, Nova Scotia had 4,031 negative tests and confirmed cases in all parts of the state.
