Why don’t children react to COVID-19 as seriously as adults?

Other coronavirus infections that cause the common cold can provide cross-reactive immunity, and even asthma and other allergic illnesses can provide some protection.
A new study published in Science Translational Medicine examined the immune response to COVID-19 in 65 children and 65 adults.

Some children still have serious illness. Six people have died in a group of 10 to 19 years old in Michigan. This is compared to 1,788 deaths in adults aged 70 to 70 and more than 2,800 deaths in people aged 80 and over.
More importantly, they act as a reservoir of viruses in our community, allowing them to spread more easily. Children infected with SARS-CoV-2 are not as severe as adults. Even children with multiple inflammatory syndromes rarely die.
