Chicago authorities prepare for the second wave of coronavirus – NBC Chicago

Although no additional regulations have been implemented yet, Chicago’s Supreme Health Authority said the city is already preparing for a coronavirus surge during the next holiday season.

Dr. Alison Arwadi of the Chicago Public Health Service said Tuesday that the ministry is preparing for a city-wide health emergency a month to a year from this month.

Arwady explained that authorities are considering options including long-term care facilities, personal protective equipment, transfers, data sharing, and other work related to health care.

“We thought about alternative medicine at the state level in case of a really big surge,” Arwady said. “We are as prepared as possible by checking from the clinical site.”

The city’s chief health official also said he was considering changing test plans, such as the current outdoor test site, which would be “impossible” in cold weather.

“We have a lot of plans, thinking about smaller clinics that are more mobile and indoors, and experimenting a bit,” Arwady said. “There’s a lot we plan and think about in that test environment.”

Arwadi expects Halloween next month to begin various celebrations this fall and winter holiday.

Arwadi said on Tuesday that she wouldn’t preemptively talk about potential future limits as Chicago has begun to see positive rates and cases declining this week.

“Now we’re in a pretty good mood for the fall season,” Arwadi said. “And what I want is that we continue to build on that success.”

According to Arwady, deer residents could be further restricted if Chicago residents saw a significant increase in the number of cases, especially hospitalizations and deaths.

According to Arwady, Chicago is currently processing an average of 287 new cases per day to get out of the “high incident” or “high risk” condition defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention every day. We aim to reach less than 200 new cases per case.

The city said it remained below 400 cases per day and Arwady would impose additional restrictions by the Department of Health.

“We peaked in late August, reaching more than 350 cases per day and are currently experiencing this gradual downtrend,” Arwady said.

According to Arwady, Chicago’s positive rate was 4.6% as of Tuesday, similar to where Chicago has been around for weeks.
