EEE is one of the most dangerous mosquito-borne diseases in the United States, with a 33% mortality rate for those who get sick. People can get infected with EEE by being bitten by mosquitoes that carry the virus. People under the age of 15 and over the age of 50 have the highest risk of serious illness after infection.
