Coronavirus: Middlesbrough wants to ban mixing at home
The Middlesbrough Council is to ask the government to put restrictions on people in different households who socialize in the house.
This move has responded to an increase in viral cases, with the latest figures showing 122 per 100,000 population.
Parliament said it was concerned that the government would impose strict restrictions on the town without local proposals.
Details of the proposal being completed include banning people from different households socializing in the house (exempt from living alone, support bubbles, childcare, and caring for the vulnerable).
However, there are no changes to the current “6 rules” when it comes to meeting others outside the home in Covid’s safe places such as cafes, restaurants and pubs.

Andy Preston, the elected mayor of Middlesbrough, said test and trace data showed that the infection was predominantly spread throughout the home.
He states: “We need to protect the vulnerable, but we can’t kill jobs or society. We need a neutral position.
“The coming months of the long winter will be lonely for many, so there is a balance to be struck here.
“This isn’t about people barricade themselves in the house for months … I don’t want people to be barred from meeting cousins and friends to eat coffee or a bite.
“Companies can keep Covid safe. As a council, we shook our heads in dangerous places and continue to promote them.”
Leaders of the Darlington, Hartlepool, Stockton, and Red Car & Cleveland Councils previously said they did not seek further restrictions on the coronavirus, but urged people to minimize contact between households. ..
