San Diego records 305 new COVIDs-19 cases, 9 deaths as the flu season approaches

Public health officials in San Diego County reported 305 new cases of COVID-19 and 9 additional deaths, increasing the county’s total to 47,485 and 792 deaths.

Between September 16th and 29th, three women and six men died, and their age ranged from their mid-50s to their late 80s. Everything had an underlying medical condition. The underlying condition reported on September 29 in a 29-year-old woman who died of COVID-19 was reclassified from “pending” to “no underlying condition.”

Of the 11,709 tests reported Thursday, 3% returned positive, with a 14-day moving average percentage of positive cases of 3.1%. The state-set goal is less than 8%. The daily average for the 7 days of the test was 9,086.

Of the total number of cases in the county, 3,545 (7.5%) required hospitalization and 828 (1.7% of all cases) had to be admitted to the intensive care unit.

On September 30, two new communities were identified. One happened in business and the other in restaurants / bars. Twenty-nine community outbreaks have been identified in the last seven days (September 24th to September 30th). The number of community outbreaks has exceeded more than 7 triggers in 7 days. Occurrences of community settings are defined as 3 or more COVID-19 cases in settings for the last 14 days and people in different households.

San Diego State University reported Thursday that 11 cases and 4 possible cases of the day were university-related. In addition, 14 previously reported cases are currently associated with SDSU.

In the new case, the total number of SDSUs will be 1,110 after August 24, the first day of instruction in the fall semester.

These totals include 1,061 confirmed cases and 49 possible cases. None of the COVID-19 cases have been associated with a teaching or research space since the fall teaching began.
