NB reported an outbreak of COVID-19 in a special care home in Moncton after two residents tested positive-New Brunswick

The care home has 112 residents and 56 employees.
“The outbreak is the greatest fear for everyone, and we are convinced that our top priority is the health and safety of our population and those who care for it,” Jennifer Russell, director of health, said in a state update on Tuesday. Please. “
Russell also said they were “deeply concerned” about the remaining residents of the house, and that some staff were showing potential symptoms.
Prime Minister Blaine Higgs said the announcement was the reason why the state was still in a state of emergency, despite the small number of incidents.
“We knew that COVID-19 wasn’t happening in our state,” Higgs said in an update. “We have to do what we need to do to protect our vulnerable family and friends.”
Health officials said contact tracing is being conducted and other residents and staff are being tested.
The two cases in Notre Dame Manor are only the two cases reported on Tuesday. Currently, there are five active cases in the state.
To date, New Brunswick has identified 205 cases of COVID-19 and has recovered 198 people. Two people were killed in the state in both the Campbellton region.
As of Tuesday, 80,809 tests were conducted.
Last week, Higgs said he was considering imposing a compulsory mask-wearing order on the entire state if the New Brands Wickers did not comply with current orders regarding the use of masks.
He also announced last week that from October 8th, land travelers from Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia will no longer be screened for COVID-19 before entering New Brunswick.
