Massachusetts Prison Coronavirus Outbreak, Substance Abuse Center Leads to More Test Requests
Two recent coronavirus clusters in Massachusetts prisons and substance abuse centers have called for aggressive virus testing and reduced inmates in Bay prisons and prisons.

“In fact, in April I asked an infectious disease specialist and DPH about a universal test at our facility, and the recommendation was not to do so,” Koutoujian said. “If that guidance changes, we will follow those new directives.”
Plymouth’s MASAC, managed by the Department of Corrections, tested all patients and staff at the facility in late September. Twenty-nine positive patients were moved to another building within the facility and did not require hospital care.
“DOC will continue strategic testing across departments in line with DPH guidance to ensure that new cases are identified quickly and infections are minimized,” a DOC spokeswoman said in a statement. Stated.
