Massachusetts public health officials have identified more than 400 new COVID-19 cases for the 10th consecutive day on Thursday. This is part of the slow but steady increase in virus transmission over the week.
An additional 409 people have been affected by the disease in the past day across the state, bringing the number to 134,277 throughout the state and eight more on Thursday. To date, 9,350 people have died from COVID-19 throughout the state.
The state’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education released a report on Wednesday detailing coronavirus figures for state school students and staff last week. Of the local schools, the Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School reported one student with COVID-19, and the Freetown-Lakeville School District reported two.
Five COVID-19s are being treated at Morton Hospital, one of whom is being treated at the ICU.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 7,528,313 people are infected with COVID-19 nationwide, an increase of more than 53,000 since Wednesday. Over 211,000 people have died of the disease.
Hospitalization falls below 500 again

Isolated active case hits new highs
The number of people with active cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts has reached its highest level, increasing by more than 20% last week since the state began reporting active cases in early June.
