As of Tuesday, 20 out of a total of 898 prisoners and one prison employee after a regular check-up on October 2 confirmed the outbreak in prisoners who tested positive for the disease. It was infected, said Sara Dayley, a spokesman for the county health department.
Three of the prisoners are experiencing mild symptoms, Daily said. The remaining prisoners show no signs of illness.
All 20 prisoners are quarantined in the facility, according to Daily. Healthcare providers participate in all of them.
Authorities have not identified the source of COVID-19, Daily said.
The facility had previously reported a very low incidence of coronavirus — 37 prisoners and 24 employees have been positive since the outbreak of the pandemic, and all previous cases were in prisons for individuals. He was tracked to be infected before entering.
The prison currently holds 898 prisoners. Its capacity is 1,232.
