Weber County prison inmates are testing COVID-19 positive for authorities saying they may be re-infected

Ogden-Weber County Prison prisoners tested positive for COVID-19 last week, authorities said they could be re-infected.

The prisoner was also virus-positive in July, but had no symptoms, according to officials at the Weber County Sheriff’s Office. Said on Tuesday..

Authorities are not yet sure if this is a rare case of COVID-19 reinfection, but the sheriff’s office said it was possible.

The sheriff’s office will work with medical professionals to determine if this case was a reinfection.

For now, prisons are treating this case as a new infection, following the guidelines of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
