North Dakota reports an additional 18 COVID-19 deaths. A state that kills an average of 7 people a day in October

Four dead from Burleigh County, three from Stark County, two from Bottineau County, two from McHenry County, one from Cass, Grand Forks, McLean, Morton, Towner, Ward, and Williams. Came from the entire state, including. All victims were at least 60 years old and had underlying health.

According to the ministry, 388 North Dakota people have died from the disease since March, and the number of deaths has skyrocketed in the last two months. The state recorded an average of more than 7 COVID-19 deaths per day in October, making it the worst pandemic month.

At least 245 of the state’s deaths occur in nursing homes and other care facilities, many of which have been destroyed by the virus in the last two months. Seven facilities have more than 10 infected residents, including Minot’s Somerset Court, which has 74 virus-infected persons, more than half of the facility’s residents.

Currently, there are 5,247 people in North Dakota, known to be infected with the virus. The state has set a new record for the ninth consecutive day, surpassing 5,000 for the first time.

North Dakota last week reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases and per capita deaths in the country. According to the New York Times.. South Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Montana, and Minnesota have all been identified by publications as having “high and high” infections, and cases are skyrocketing across the region.

The number of residents hospitalized for illness on Friday increased to 148. Another 69 patients were initially hospitalized for other illnesses but later became COVID-19 positive. There are 39 residents infected with the virus in the intensive care unit.

North Dakota, which was out of state for medical care, has not been tracked by the Department of Health, spokesman Nicole Pesche said.

The state is struggling with the lack of available beds as COVID-19 hospitalization converges on the burden of medical staff and high non-coronavirus hospitalization rates. There are 19 intensive care units and 236 regular inpatient beds throughout the state.

The situation is particularly dire in Bismarck, where two hospitals have one available ICU bed and five hospital beds.

It is reported that 3 hospitals in Fargo have 5 open ICU beds and 17 hospital beds, and Altor Hospital in Grand Forks has 2 ICU beds and 18 hospital beds.

The health department reported a record 877 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. All but 10 of the 53 counties in the state reported at least one new case.

Cass County, including Fargo, reported a whopping 223 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. In the state’s most populous county, new infections have surged in the last two weeks, with 1,045 of the state’s most active cases today. This is more than the entire North Dakota state had in mid-August.

Grand Forks County, which has seen a surge in recent infections, has reported 113 new cases, with up to 400 active cases.

Burleigh County, including Bismarck, reported 108 new cases on Friday. The county has the second most active case in the state at 890. Located just west of Burleigh County, Morton County, including Mandan, has reported 29 new cases and 315 active cases.

The state’s three largest metropolitan areas account for about half of the active cases in the state.

Ward County, including Minot, reported 116 new cases on Friday. The county with the most serious outbreaks to date currently has 445, the third most active case in the state.

Approximately 10% of the 8,761 residents tested as part of the latest batch received positive results, while 17% of the first-time tested residents received positive results.

North Dakota does not report a 7-day moving average of positive rates, but the Forum News service found 9.2% of all tested residents in tests conducted on previously untested residents. Calculated as 16.1%. Both rates are the highest since the forum news service started tracking numbers in early August.
