In rare cases, men can get breast cancer. One in 100 breast cancers diagnosed in the United States is found in men. Breast cancer can occur at any age, but it usually occurs in men between the ages of 60 and 70.

Risk factors can increase your chances of getting breast cancer, but they do not necessarily mean that you will get breast cancer.
Breast cancer is much less common in men, but it is still important for men to be proactive in breast health. Be aware of the common symptoms of breast cancer and report any changes in your breast to your healthcare provider.
If more than one family member has breast or ovarian cancer, or if the family member has a known BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation, share this information with your healthcare provider. Your healthcare provider may refer you for genetic counseling. If genetic testing reveals a BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation, your healthcare provider will explain what you should do to detect cancer early if you have it.
