Age, ethnicity, and wealth determine who will be vaccinated with the Covid-19 vaccine first.

Gender, ethnicity, and wealth can help who prioritizes the Covid-19 vaccine under the proposals being discussed by the government.

The Joint Vaccination and Vaccination Commission (JCVI), the agency responsible for devising vaccine strategies in the UK, considers the best way to determine who is at greatest risk of developing a serious illness in Covid-19 doing.

JVCI has created an 11-step priority vaccination list as a “provisional recommendation”. The list is primarily age-based, but also considers occupations and existing medical conditions, Telegraph reported.

The government can also use algorithms developed by scholars at Oxford University. This algorithm takes into account various variables such as ethnicity, gender, deprivation, smoking status, body mass index, and current medication.

JCVI has already created an 11-step priority immunization list as a “provisional recommendation”. It is primarily age-based, but includes consideration of occupation and existing medical conditions.

However, it is currently under review and an updated version will be available within two weeks.

The Commission may take into account what we already know about who is most affected by the vaccine.

According to the Public Health Services (PHE), twice as many men of working age diagnosed with Covid die compared to women. Mortality in the poorest areas is twice that of the richest areas. The BAME community also has a 10-50% increased risk of death, considering age, gender, and social deprivation.

According to the UK Public Health Service, the mortality rate of unskilled workers is almost four times that of professionals.

The mortality rate of unskilled workers is almost four times that of professionals. For security guards, who were hit hardest in the first wave, the number of recorded deaths was almost twice that of men working in social care.

Authorities say the current list is not expected to change dramatically, but it has been confirmed that they are considering incorporating a wider range of non-medical factors that affect risk.

They said there was a tension between a system that prioritized risk considering all factors and a system that was easy to understand and implement.

“Members noted updates from DHSC on individual risk tools developed by the University of Oxford,” said the latest public minutes from JCVI.

“It was pointed out that this tool can be used to identify individual risks of hospitalization and death and to stratify the population.”

The minutes also pointed out that the challenges of high-volume vaccine delivery could mean that simpler programs could be the best way to facilitate delivery.

They read that the best program could be somewhere between the two approaches.

There is increasing pressure on ministers to finalize the vaccine distribution strategy.

There is growing optimism that interim data for up to four vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna, Novavax and AstraZeneca will be released before Christmas.

This puts the UK in a strong position as the government has secured 30 million Pfizer vaccines, 60 million Novavax jabs and 100 million AstraZeneca candidates.

Dr. Nick Jackson, Head of Programs and Technology at the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (Cepi), said the data provide an early indicator of the effectiveness of potential vaccines.

“But even with really good efficacy results in November, we still have to wait to make sure we have the right amount of safety data,” he added.

Jackson said there is a significant delay between efficacy and safety results.

He said it was important to understand this.
