Oklahoma cracks a total of 125,000 COVID cases as active cases reach new highs and a 7-day average rise

The Oklahoma Department of Health reported 1,084 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the state to a total of 125,195.

In October, another 35,563 Oklahoma confirmed cases of COVID-19. This is the highest in the month so far, up 25% from the previous high in September.

There were 177 new cases on Monday in Tulsa County. Currently, the total is 22,919, second only to 25,091 in Oklahoma County. On Monday, Oklahoma County was the first in the state to exceed a total of 25,000.

Tulsa County added a total of 5,211 cases in October, an increase of 27% from September. So far, Tulsa County has the highest number of 5,281 cases in July.

The average of 7-day new cases in the states showing a propensity for infection surged in the last two days from the fall of 6 days, rising from 1,021 on Saturday to 1,063 on Sunday and 1,123 on Monday. The average reached a record high of 1,348 on October 25th. Since September 19, the 7-day average has fallen below 1,000 in just two days.

The seven-day average in Tulsa County rose for four consecutive days, rising from 165 to 175. The average number of new cases in Tulsa County peaked at 254 in late July.

The State Department of Health reported nine deaths on Monday, with one dead in the last 24 hours. It was reported that a man in Adea County aged 36-49, a man in Kingfisher County aged 50-64, and seven adults aged 65 and over died. An additional 19 deaths were reported over the weekend, with COVID-19 officially killing 1,354 Oklahoma, 214 of whom were residents of Tulsa County.

In October, the state reported 306 deaths, the highest in the month so far. Record deaths in October increased by 18% from the previous record of 259 in August and increased by 32% from the previous month.

The number of Oklahoma hospitalized for COVID-19 on Friday night was 852, 13 fewer than Thursday. The state exceeded the 700, 800, and 900 hospitalization thresholds in October. Of those hospitalized on Friday, 767 tested positive for the coronavirus. Overall, 322 Oklahomas admitted with COVID-19 were in the intensive care unit. 21 more people than Thursday, setting a new record. The old record for ICU entry was 319, set on October 19.

According to the State Health Department, 235 residents were hospitalized in Tulsa County as of Friday night, six fewer than Thursday.

During the pandemic process, 8,934 Oklahoma people were hospitalized with COVID-19.

As of Sunday, the state reported that 8% of adult ICU beds were available. On Friday night, ICU bed availability across the state dropped from 14% to 9%.

The State Department of Health reported 811 additional cases recovered on Monday, bringing the total to 107,893. A patient is considered to have recovered if he / she has not died, is not currently hospitalized, and has at least 14 days since the onset of symptoms. Symptoms have been reported to persist for several weeks in some people.

In the state, there are 15,948 COVID-19 activity cases, 264 more than the previous day, a record high.

Tulsa County reported that 98 additional cases had recovered, bringing the total to 20,303. There are 2,402 active cases in the county, 79 more than the previous day, setting a new record. The previous record for Tulsa County was 2,371, set on October 17.

The state’s reported overall positive test rate increase remained at 8.3% on Friday. Of the 14,575 tests reported on Friday, 7.2% were positive. Each positive test does not necessarily represent a unique individual.

The state also reports a cumulative positive test rate, an indicator used by the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center. This is calculated by dividing the number of cases by the number of negative tests and the number of cases. As of Friday, the rate was 7.5%, unchanged from Thursday.

Johns Hopkins uses different rates to compare the conditions at which tests may be tracked in different ways. The ideal way to calculate the positive rate is to divide the number of people tested positive by the number of people tested, which is how to calculate the overall rate of Oklahoma.

The World Health Organization benchmark for proper testing is a positive test rate of 5%.
