COVID-19: This is a brand new summary of the Long Island case by the municipality
In Long Island, infection rates were stable over the weekend, but fluctuated wildly in other parts of the state, reporting less than 100 new COVID-19 cases.
In Nassau, the State Department of Health reported 66 new COVID-19 cases in Suffolk and 113 in Nassau, according to the latest data released. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, nearly 50,000 COVID-19 cases have now been identified in both Nassau and Suffolk counties.
A total of 1,102,775 COVID-19 tests were performed in Suffolk, with 49,604 (4.5%) positive cases. In Nassau, there were 50,407 positive cases (4.9 percent) out of 1,093,346 tests.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,021 COVID-19s have died in Suffolk and 2,216 in Nassau. This includes one new virus-related death over the weekend.
Last week on Long Island, the positive infection rate of tested people increased slightly. Latest data from the State Department of Health:
- Wednesday, October 28: 25,397 tests were conducted, with 378 (1.3 percent) positive cases.
- Thursday, October 29: 19,891 tests were conducted, with 268 (1.3 percent) positive cases.
- Friday, October 30: 18,246 tests were conducted, with 242 (1.4%) positive cases.
- Saturday, October 31st: 20,181 tests were conducted, with 283 (1.4%) positive cases.
- Sunday, November 1: 12,741 tests were conducted, with 179 (1.4%) positive cases.

The most confirmed case of COVID-19 in Nassau County is reported to have been reported by the county’s Ministry of Health.

Over the last 24 hours, 96,101 COVID-19 tests have been performed in New York, with 1,633 positive cases and a 1.70 percent infection rate. Hospitalizations were up to 1,151 and 14 new virus-related deaths were.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, New York has conducted 14,772,754 COVID-19 tests, with 511,368 positive tests. A total of 25,838 New Yorkers have died since mid-March.
