Singapore, November 6 — A 2-year-old Singaporean boy with a travel history to the Philippines was one of six new imported cases of Covid-19 here yesterday. In addition to these, there was one case in the community, said the Ministry of Health (MOH).

The boy, who was the contact person in the previous case, tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday.

The MOH said the other five import cases consisted of two permanent residents, two work permit holders, and one long-term visit pass holder.

They have traveled to India, Indonesia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates.

All six imported cases were listed on a stay-at-home order upon arrival in Singapore, where they were tested for viruses.

MOH added that in one case within the community there was no known link to pass the infection.

The 39-year-old man is the owner of a short-term visit pass where his wife lives permanently here.

He arrived in Singapore from the United States on October 11, and was banned from going out upon arrival. He was tested while notifying at a dedicated facility on October 22, and the results returned negative.

However, he had a fever on October 30, and sought treatment at a general practitioner’s clinic, where he was diagnosed with suspicion of dengue fever.

“He later developed symptoms of an acute respiratory tract infection and was tested for Covid-19 on November 2. When the test returned positive on November 4, he was taken to the hospital. “MOH said.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community remains low, with a total of two cases in the past week. According to the Ministry of Health, the relationship between the two is not yet known to past cases.

The total number of infections in Singapore is currently 58,043.

Of these, 57,949 were fully recovered and were discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 11 yesterday.

There are still 40 patients in the hospital, most of whom are stable or improving. No one is in the intensive care unit.

An additional 26 patients have been quarantined and cared for in a local facility. They either have mild symptoms or are clinically good, but still test positive for Covid-19.
