Outbreak of Salmonella associated with pet hedgehogs
Toronto-Public health officials say an outbreak of salmonella associated with pet hedgehogs has infected several people across Canada.
According to the survey, the Public Health Agency of Canada confirmed a total of 11 cases of Salmonella in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Quebec between December 2019 and August 2020.
“Many people who got sick reported direct or indirect contact with hedgehogs before the outbreak.” According to a survey.

Public health recommends that Canadians practice proper hygiene, including frequent hand washing and safe handling of hedgehogs in the environment, to prevent further illness.
“Canadian and US investigators continue to work together to exchange information that may lead to common causes of infection,” said Public Health.
In October, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention associated an outbreak of Salmonella in 17 states in the United States, infecting 32 people. There were no reported deaths, According to the CDC.
People who are experiencing symptoms or suffering from existing health are advised to contact their healthcare provider if they suspect Salmonella infection.
