With the steady increase in coronavirus cases in South Carolina, state health agencies are reformatting daily data updates.
The SC Health and Environment Administration said it would continue to publish all currently reported figures, including coronavirus testing and state-wide recorded case and mortality statistics.
Starting Friday, in the daily release listing these numbers, DHEC will direct readers to another page with more detailed information.
Currently, the website provides South Carolina people with separate pages for county-level data, key indicators of outbreak severity, future projections, and a breakdown of cases in hospitals, nursing homes, and schools. I’m instructing you to do it.
State-wide figures
New reported cases: 987 is 525 percent higher than 158, which was aggregated on March 31, when Governor Henry McMaster ordered the closure of non-essential businesses.

Charleston County reported 62 new cases, Berkeley recorded 17, and Dorchester reported 22.
DHEC reported the death of one of the Charleston residents, an elderly patient who died on Monday.
Dead (number)
Each of the 18 deaths reported by DHEC on Wednesday was the victim of an elderly person aged 65 and over. They lived in the counties of Charleston, Lawrence, Newbury, Richland, Spartanberg, Sumter and York.
Hospitalization
On Wednesday, DHEC reported that 780 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19, including 198 in the intensive care unit and 97 on mechanical ventilation.

Authorities continue to urge South Carolina citizens to take precautions such as wearing masks and other face coverings, increasing social distance, and frequent hand washing.
They also encourage anyone who believes they have been exposed to the virus or who has symptoms to be tested. DHEC advised that people in the community and those who cannot be socially separated should take a monthly test.
