Mayo says beds are full in northwestern Wisconsin | Latest News
Eau Claire, Wisconsin (AP) —The Mayo Clinic Health System states that hospitals in northwestern Wisconsin are full.
Hospitals in the region, including Baron, Bloomer, Eau Claire, Osseo and Menomony, have 100% full beds, according to system officials. 83 patients have COVID-19, WQOW-TV report.
“People need to urgently treat COVID-19 as a health emergency to prevent the health care system from being overwhelmed. Regional Vice President Richard Helmars, Regional Administrator Jason Craig, Chief Nursing Officer Pam White, said in a joint statement.
They say that 50% of patients in the intensive care unit have COVID-19 and 40% of their medical or surgical beds are filled with coronavirus patients.
In addition, 300 workers are restricted due to COVID-19 exposure.
Last month, the Mayo Clinic Health System announced that it would temporarily postpone selective procedures in the region.
