CDC: Wearing a mask can prevent you from getting a virus
But this week, the CDC posted a new scientific summary discussing recent studies that have found wearers receive some protection.
The institutional guidance has not changed. It continues to advise Americans to wear masks to prevent the spread of the virus.
“But now we say there is another reason to do that,” said Dr. John Brooks, Chief Medical Officer of the CDC’s COVID-19 Emergency Response.
Agency officials were led by a Japanese researcher who used a mannequin head and a ventilator to simulate the diffusion of coronavirus particles into the air and evaluated how much the mask blocked permeation. I was influenced by recent research.
Previous studies have found that wearing a mask is most effective for infected individuals who may spread the mask by coughing, sneezing, or talking. Studies have shown that masks block about 60% of the amount of virus that comes out of infected people.

But Brooks said that the value of everyone wearing a mask is the duty of a Missouri hairdresser customer, a US aircraft carrier customer, and a mask.
