Canada’s flu season has been “very low” so far, public health says

According to Evans, even if foreign tourists come in, they are unlikely to bring the flu because there is very little flu elsewhere.
Canada is also pushing the flu vaccine more strongly than ever, and Canadians are listening. Canadian provinces have ordered about 25% more flu shots than last year, but many are unable to keep up with demand.
In Alberta, less than a month after the vaccine became available, 1.14 million people have already been vaccinated. In 2019, the state vaccinated a total of 1.4 million people.
Evans said vaccinated people who fight the less prevalent virus will make this flu season a non-event.
“It’s a perfect storm that the flu season isn’t very good,” he said.
