COVID-19, Alzheimer’s Disease Care and Holidays – Free Webiner in December

Colorado — Holiday gatherings and coronaviruses are immiscible, but for a family of 76,000 Colorado people with Alzheimer’s disease, the challenge of long-term care becomes even more complex this year.

The Alzheimer’s Association will offer a series of free webinars in December, including Wednesday, December 2nd, from 6pm to 7pm, to coronavirus regardless of whether a dementia lover lives at home. Give the caregiver simple tips on how to deal with it. A facility or care provider is coming home.

In addition to COVID-19 and Long-term Care, the full schedule of free webinars offered during December includes:

· 10 warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease (learn about 10 general warning signs, precautions for yourself and others, typical age-related changes, diagnostic benefits, early detection, etc.) – 9 ~ 10:30 Thursday, December 3rd. Tuesday, December 15th, 10 am-11am.

o 10 Warning Signs (Spanish)-Friday, December 11th, 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

• Effective Communication Strategies (This workshop teaches caregivers how to decipher oral and behavioral communication from people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Meaningful with people at different stages of dementia. Develop a strategy for building relationships.) – Friday, December 4th, 10 am-11am. Thursday, December 17th, 10 am-11am.

• Alzheimer’s Disease Legal and Financial Planning (an interactive program to learn about important legal and financial issues to consider, how to plan, and how to access legal and financial resources near you) – Friday noon to 2:00 pm , December 4th.

· Understand Alzheimer’s disease and dementia (learn about the effects of Alzheimer’s disease, the differences between Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, risk factors, current research, treatments to address some symptoms, etc.) – Monday, December 7th, 5 pm-6pm. Monday, December 14th, 10 am-11am.

Understanding and responding to dementia-related behaviors (behaviors are a powerful form of communication and are one of the main ways people with dementia communicate their needs and emotions as their ability to use language declines. Behavior can be difficult for caregivers. Learn how to decipher the behavioral messages they participate in and learn strategies for intervening in some of the most common behavioral challenges.) – 11 am to afternoon 12:30. Tuesday, December 8; Wednesday, December 16th, 10 am-11am.

· Healthy life in your brain and body: Tips from the latest research (we always knew that brain and body health were related, but now science is our physical And as we grow older, we can provide insights on how to optimize cognitive health.

Use practical tools in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity, and social involvement to help incorporate these recommendations into your healthy aging plan. ) – Tuesday, December 8th, 2 pm-3pm. Monday, December 21st, 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

Dementia Conversation (Tips on how to have an honest and compassionate conversation with your family about going to the doctor, when to stop driving, and making legal / financial planning.) – Thursday, December 10, 2:00 pm From 3 o’clock. Monday, December 14th, 6 pm-7pm.

Living with Alzheimer’s: For Caregivers – Late – Part 2 – (In the late stages of Alzheimer’s, care usually involves new ways to connect and interact with the sick. In this two-part series , From caregivers and professionals on resources, monitoring of care, and providing meaningful connections between patients with late-stage Alzheimer’s disease and their families.) – Monday, December 7, 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
