COVID-19: Coronavirus first mass testing program begins in Wales, Mercer Tidville

Merthyr Tydfil became the first region in Wales to begin high-volume coronavirus testing for asymptomatic people.

Everyone who lives or works there can take a free test.

It follows a similar scheme of Liverpool, And Members of the military are once again involved with the local government.

The goal is to identify more positive cases and prevent the disease from spreading unchecked.

The Merthyr Tydfil Rhydycar Leisure Center will open for testing on Saturday and other sites will be online later this month.

“Each of us needs to play our part to keep the firebreak progressing and reduce coronavirus cases,” Drakeford said Friday.

“I hope that doing all this together will pave the way for Christmas and meet family and friends during the festival,” he added.

Drakeford said talks on a UK-wide approach to the Christmas rules are planned for next week.
