Health Commissioners Expect State to Vaccine COVID-19 in December |

Nashville, TennesseeWSMV)-Dr. Lisa Piercy, Director of Health, Tennessee, said the state will receive the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in mid-December.
Pearcy announced at the weekly COVID-19 press conference of Tennessee Governor Bill Lee.
The commissioner said the vaccine was first obtained by front-line healthcare professionals and first responders.
Piercy said he would be vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine first and then the Moderna vaccine a week later.
Piercy said he hopes the vaccine will be widely available in late spring / early summer. She said the state would initially be vaccinated for about 80,000 doses.
News 4 told healthcare professionals who could first get the COVID-19 vaccine when they were likely to come to Tennessee next month.
David Aronov, a doctor for Vanderbilt infections, said he is now trying to find a way to distribute it. It can start with people who work directly with COVID patients or healthcare professionals who are at high risk of serious illness if infected.
Aronov also said there was debate about making it a non-mandatory choice for healthcare professionals.
“It’s very important to understand how to distribute the vaccine to the right people at risk and to do it fairly,” Aronov said. “Sure, when it’s time to get vaccinated, I’m very excited to get the vaccine and I’m ready to roll up my sleeves.”
According to Aronov, the pandemic is out of control, so it’s unbelievable to see the vaccine available.
Tennessee plans to vaccinate Pfizer first and then Moderna, which requires about 80,000 doses.
