UK COVID-19 cases decreased by 25.6% from last week

UK government data released Thursday showed that there were 17,555 new COVID-19 infections across the UK in the last 24 hours.
This is a 41,755 decrease from last week, or 25.6%. The total number of confirmed cases is currently 1,574,562.
The data also showed that there were an additional 498 deaths on the last day in the UK. This was an increase of 411, or 14.4%, last week, and the total number of deaths increased to 57,031.
This figure came when the government announced which of the three layers of coronavirus restriction it would fall into when the blockade of the country ended on December 2.
Overall, 99% of England’s population lives below the top two tiers, with Tier 1 at only 1%.
Parliamentarians will vote for restrictions next week when the opposition Labor Party is expected to pass because it has pledged not to interfere with the government’s attempts to address the crisis.
The ruling Conservative backbencher was dissatisfied with the announcement, even though the government had promised to consider which tier it was in every week since mid-December.
