Ontario reports new records of over 1,800 cases of coronavirus, with the highest number of tests performed

Ontario reported 1,855 new cases Coronavirus Friday — the new state record since the pandemic began — now totals 111,216.

The number of cases on Friday exceeds the highest daily record of 1,589 cases recorded on Monday.

All other public health departments in Ontario reported 70 new cases.

Meanwhile, 94,366 Ontarios have recovered from the virus-induced illness COVID-19. This is 85 percent of known cases. The number of resolved cases increased by 1,451 from the previous day.

The number of active cases in Ontario increased from 12,871 the day before to 13,255.

The seven-day average is now 1,489, higher than last Friday’s 1,373.

Below is a breakdown of all cases in Ontario by gender and age.

• 54,013 are male — an increase of 962 cases.
• 56,559 are women, an increase of 870.
• There are 13,199 people under the age of 19 and an increase of 278 cases.
• 40,475 are 20-39, an increase of 686.
• 31,753 people are 40 to 59, an increase of 564 cases.
• 16,224 people are 60 to 79, an increase of 249 cases.
• 9,554 people are over 80 years old, an increase of 77 cases.

The state states that age and gender are not reported in all cases.

The numbers newly reported in the Friday report are valid from Thursday afternoon.

Long-term care facility in Ontario

According to the Ministry of Long-Term Care, 2,202 deaths have been reported between residents and patients in long-term care homes throughout Ontario, an increase of 12 deaths. Eight health care workers and staff at the care facility have died, but haven’t changed for months.

Currently, there are 106 cases in housing, a decrease of 2 cases.

The ministry also showed that there are currently 516 long-term care resident activities and 422 staff activities, a decrease of 27 and 7 on the final day, respectively.

Child Care Centers and Schools in Ontario

The number of cases in schools and daycare centers is updated only at 10:30 am on weekdays. Friday numbers are included from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon.
