Iowa reports 1,226 COVID-19 hospitalizations and 7 additional deaths in Woodbury County
(KTIV)-State health officials reported 1,266 new positive cases in Iowa between 10 am Thursday and 10 am Friday. This is according to the COVID-19 dashboard.
At 10 am on Thursday, the Iowa Public Health Service reported a total of 222,278 positive cases since the pandemic began. That number had increased to 223,544 by 10 am on Friday.
Of those who tested positive, 127,353 recovered, an increase of 2,831 from yesterday, according to the state website.
The state has also reported 37 virus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, with 2,349 deaths in the state.
Subtracting the total number of confirmed cases (223,544) from the number of recoveries (127,353) and the number of deaths (2,349) shows that Iowa currently has 93,842 active COVID-19 cases.
According to health department data, 3,242 tests were reported, for a total of 1,197,773 tests for the virus in Iowa.
Iowa’s 14-day positive rate continues to decline at 18.7%. This is down from the 19.1% reported a day ago. All Iowa counties in Suland have a positive rate of over 17%, while Monona county has a positive rate of 16.2%.
According to the latest report of the Ministry of Health, 1,226 Iowans were hospitalized for the virus. This is down from 1,269. Of these hospitalizations, 256 are in the ICU and 141 are on ventilator. According to state data, 72% of hospitalizations with COVID-19 in Iowa are over 60 years old.
IDPH currently reports 151 COVID-19 outbreaks in long-term care facilities throughout the state. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 4,628 residents of nursing homes in Iowa have been virus-positive and 1,905 have recovered. To date, 1,055 virus-related deaths have been reported at the Iowa facility.
Woodbury County
As of 9 am Thursday, the Suland District Health Department reported 95 new positive cases in Woodbury County, bringing the county to a total of 10,183.
To date, 7,611 of the county cases have recovered.
SDHD reported seven more virus-related deaths, with 123 deaths in Woodbury County. According to officials, these recent deaths involve one elderly person between the ages of 61 and 80, one elderly person aged 81 and over, and five men.
Currently, a total of 93 people are hospitalized in COVID-19 in Woodbury County. Of those hospitalized, 60 are county residents.

In Buena Vista County, 28 new cases were reported, for a total of 3,015 positive cases. Of these cases, 2,332 have recovered.
The county has reported a total of 14 virus-related deaths so far.
Clay County
A total of 1,135 positive cases have been reported in Clay County, an increase of 12 from yesterday. Of these cases, 583 have recovered.
Clay County has reported a total of four virus-related deaths so far.
Dickinson County
State health officials say five new cases have been reported in Dickinson County, for a total of 1,343 cases. Of these cases, 824 have recovered.
Dickinson County has reported a total of 10 virus-related deaths so far.
Plymouth County
Plymouth County reported 2,682 cases on Thursday, and the number had increased to 2,694 by Friday morning.Of these cases, 1,790 have recovered
The county reported two new virus-related deaths, for a total of 41.
Sioux County
Sioux County state health officials reported 15 additional cases, for a total of 3,648 cases. Of these cases, 2,608 have recovered.
The county has not reported any additional virus-related deaths, totaling only 25.
