There were 911 new COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths in British Columbia in the last 24 hours-BC News
New daily records have been set again for new British Columbia COVID-19 cases identified in the last 24 hours, and an additional 911 new cases, 47, have occurred internally.
The new case brings the total number of positive tests in British Columbia to 30,884, but has recovered 21,304. Currently, there are 399 active cases in the Interior Health area.
An additional 10,430 people are self-quarantining after contact with COVID-positive people.
Hospitalization in British Columbia also reached 301 patients on Friday, 69 of whom are receiving critical care. Ten of the hospitalizations are internal and one of them is being treated in the ICU.
Eleven British Colombians in Lower Mainland have died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, the majority in their 70s and 80s. Most of them were residents of nursing homes. Currently, there are 395 COVID-related deaths in British Columbia, and 64 have died in the past week alone.
Health Minister Adrian Dix said that British Columbia hospitals currently have a capacity of 71% and critical care hospitals have a capacity of 55%, taking into account the beds of COVID-19 Surge Hospital.
Three more outbreaks have been declared at British Columbia care facilities, and one has been declared terminated. Currently, there are active outbreaks in 54 long-term care homes and 5 acute care homes. There are 728 active cases of the virus among the residents of the care facility and 434 care facility staff.
Dr. Bonnie Henry of the State Department of Health said that much higher levels of community infections of the virus have been seen in the state and around the world, even weeks before spring and summer.
