Pak reports new polio cases as a COVID19-ANI-affected polio control campaign
Islamabad [Pakistan], November 29 (ANI): Pakistan reported yet another polio case on Sunday, bringing the national total to 82 this year.
The case was detected in Balochistan, and Dawn reported that this year more than 24 cases of poliovirus-induced disability and life-threatening illness were reported.
Last year, 147 cases were reported domestically, but in 2018 there were only 12 cases.
An official at the National Institutes of Health said the latest victim was a 10-month-old girl.
“She is a resident of Union Council Karutabad II, Tehsil Chilton Town, Quetta district. Her left leg is paralyzed and her family’s socioeconomic status has been declared poor. Opposition to vaccination I will do it. “
This incident occurs when the country is involved in a second wave of coronavirus.
